We Need More Deal in the Green Deal / Unleashing Program for Climate Protection Instead of Detailed Regulations and Bureaucracy

"We need more deal in the Green Deal. Instead of detailed regulations and too much bureaucracy, we need to help the industry implement investments in climate neutrality through an unleashing package for climate protection," explained the environmental spokesperson of the largest group in the European Parliament (EPP, Christian Democrats), CDU Member of Parliament Dr. Peter Liese, ahead of the new European Parliament's constitution and the decision on the future President of the Commission.

"The climate goals were, quite rightly, one of the core points of Ursula von der Leyen in her first term, and I agree with her that the climate goals must definitely be achieved. The core of the Green Deal is not up for debate. However, I am firmly convinced that the method must change. We need less bureaucracy and fewer detailed regulations. The industry must be enabled to invest through targeted regulatory relief. In the spirit of the Net Zero Industry Act, we need to enable more companies to obtain permits faster. A symbol in this debate is the combustion engine ban. I advocate that we equate synthetic fuels with electric cars. In other sectors, technological openness and deregulation are even more important," Liese explained. The CDU-NRW's top candidate for the European elections advocated recognizing the election result and electing Ursula von der Leyen as President of the Commission. "She is the right choice for this new phase of the Green Deal. If she is not elected, European democracy will suffer severe damage," emphasized Liese.
